DINI-Zukunftswerkstatt 2018: The influence of digital teaching formats on institutional institutions

Digitalisation and the associated technologies cause massive changes in our everyday lives, in our communication and in our information procurement. Of course, this also has a great influence on our educational opportunities as well as on the associated institutional institutions and in the field of training. The DINI-Zukunftswerkstatt 2018 deals with the topic of Virtual & Augmented Reality. Ideas, projects and application scenarios in teaching. In March 2018, experts from universities throughout Germany discussed the use of immersive media in educational teaching in panel discussions, workshops and presentations at the Bauhaus-University in Weimar.

DINI-Zukunftswerkstatt 2018

A keynote speech focused on the topic of Social Virtual Reality. The advantages of experiencing learning content together within Virtual Reality are clearly demonstrated on the basis of psychological insights. Thanks to Joint Perception, jointly experienced stimuli remain in the memory for much longer, while the collaborative visual search is significantly more effective. Problems arise, for example from the well-known effects of motion sickness and technical difficulties such as tracking accuracy.

A presentation by Dr. Thies Pfeiffer shows how the use of virtual technologies can best be applied in practice. A digital skills lab would be conceivable as a third learning location and interface between theory and practice. As a delimited learning location, the acquired theoretical knowledge is to be deepened there in order to ensure increased action competence for practice. As a time-limited exercise location, case methods, practical exercises or free training can be made possible there. This method would be conceivable, for example, in nursing care and is currently being tested in preparation for an infusion as a VR Experience.

The virtualisation of the training environment could make it possible to reduce the use of resources and costs in training. In addition, it could ensure more flexibility for learners and massively expand the scope of education and training. Of course, the disadvantages that arise in the form of update and maintenance costs as well as the acquisition of simulation patients must also be weighed up here.

The listed examples offer an excerpt of the possibilities of the AR and VR technologies. The DINI-Zukunftswerkstatt offers always new dates to the topics digitization, information and communication technology. DINI was founded in order to promote information and communication services and the associated development regionally and nationally.
